Candle Jar DIY | Sophie

Ever wonder what to do with all empty candle jars?

We'll I've been getting crafty and found a way of reusing some of the pretty jars I have leftover from some candles I got for Christmas!

First thing is to put your candle jar in the freezer for several hours or over night. This makes the wax less sticky so you can easily remove it. It may be quite cold so you might need to hold it with a towel or kitchen paper.

Using a kitchen knife, cut around the edge of the wax to loosen it from the jar, it should then break apart very easily so it can be removed. Next is the tricky part, removing the metal candle wick.
Put some water in a Microwaveable glass, and put it in the microwave for 1 minute! Poor the water into the jar and leave it for 10 minutes, this should help melt the glue that sticks it to the jar (Don't worry the hot water won't crack the jar). Then using a knife you can scrape the wick off.
Once you've got all the wax out, give it a clean with some washing up liquid and a kitchen sponge, if there's any bits of wax left over use a cotton pad and nail varnish remover, this will also help remove any sticky patches left over if your candle has a label.

WHAT CAN YOU USE THEM FOR?

Pens

Makeup Brushes

Hair Band and Clips
